Baseball : The National league Championship Series
Thehe Los Angeles Dodgers and reigning World Series champion Chicago Cubs have punched their ticket to the National League Championship Series. It was an easier road for the Dodgers, with Los Angeles sweeping Arizona in their division series. For the Cubs, times were a little tougher with Chicago going the distance with Washington, winning a controversial squeaker in game 5 to clinch their division series.
When breaking down the Dodgers, their clear strength is pitching. From the starters, Clayton Kershaw, Yu Darvish, Rich Hill, Alex Wood, to their bullpen led by the best closer in baseball, Kenley Jansen, this staff is going to be trouble for the Cubs bats. The Dodgers haven’t been to the World Series since 1988, and this staff easily gives them their best chance to win the ultimate prize.
For the Cubs, their lineup isn’t as good as it was during the World Series run of 2016, but it still remains a strength and will ultimately determine the outcome of this series. If the Cubs offence can attack the Los Angeles pitchers for several runs early and then hold on with their solid bullpen, Chicago could win this series.
I think the Dodgers pitching staff will be too much for the Cubs to handle over the course of a 7-game series. With Kershaw getting the starts in game one and five, I don’t see an opening for Chicago to take control. The longer the series goes the better it will be for Chicago. But this one won’t, so look for Los Angeles to win with little difficulty.
