WC Qualifiers - Ireland & Northern Ireland have a chance...
Football : Ireland draw Denmark in play-offs – A massive chance to reach the World Cup in Russia
The Republic of Ireland drew Denmark in the play-off round for the 2018 World Cup and will fancy their chances of going to Russia given in my opinion there were tougher teams in the draw such as Italy and Switzerland.
Ireland will travel to Copenhagen on Saturday the 11th of November for the first game of the two games, while the return leg will be in the Aviva Stadium on the 14th of November. That weekend could potentially be a massive weekend for Irish considering the Ireland rugby team are also in action in the Autumn internationals, first up for them is South Africa with that game scheduled to take place on the 11th of November, I would imagine this would be a 5 o clock kick off, with the Ireland game in Copenhagen at 7.45pm, of course these details will have to be confirmed by the FAI and the IRFU. In addition to these two events Irish fans will also note that the International series between Ireland and Australia is also scheduled in on the same day. A bumper day for us Irish fans, where I am sure many will hit their local pubs for the day!
In other world cup qualifier play-off news, Northern Ireland will play Switzerland in the play-off, the first leg will be in Windsor Park. Croatia drew Greece, with the first game scheduled to be in Zagreb, while Italy will travel to Sweden in their first leg tie. Republic of Ireland have a massive chance now of qualifying for the first World Cup since Korea/Japan. Many will be hoping the Boys in Green can come away with at least a draw in Copenhagen and then get the win in the Aviva that is what I am hoping for anyway! Tickets details are expected be announced soon by the FAI for both games and they should be on sale closer to the end of the week.
