The Sporting Film - Losing Sight of Shore
Rowing: An amazing feat by 6 amazing women, captured beautifully on film.
As far as Netflix/Amazon goes, the film menu is starting to get kinda thin. Although there are still lots of films, there is a lot of dross. Which is why when we found 'Losing Sight of Shore' we were not sure what to expect. We had heard of the 'Coxless Crew' but until now had not seen much in detail. An indictment on our society when an achievement of this magnitude is overshadowed by some Z list celebrity bullshit.
Let's get to the point. This is a fantastic film.
The story of course is quite staggering, and there are some teary moments for sure, but the film making is also of the highest order. This bearing in mind that the majority of footage is shot by the crew themselves! As if they didn't have enough to deal with.
The rowing element loosely puts this in the Sports film bracket, but moreover it falls within our remit to tell wonderful stories about wonderful people. Make no mistake, all of these women are wonderful people.
If you want some inspiration, and also a timely reminder that anything is possible with the right attitude, ambition and application (3 A's, better than the Ed did at 'A' Level). Watch this if you can, and then get up and go and do something amazing.
