Premier League - Week 2 Preview
Football: The Premier League started with a bang. What can we expect this week?
The opening weekend of the Premier League yielded 31 goals from 10 games, a lively start. On paper (whatever that means) there might be a few less this weekend, but let's analyse and get it wrong like last week anyway.
Saturday 19th August 2017
Swansea Vs Manchester Utd: Utd started strong, and they are firm favourites to take 3 points at the Liberty stadium. How can Swansea replace Sigurdssons goals and assists? This doesn't look like a fixture that will tell us much in that respect. AWAY WIN.
Bournemouth Vs Watford : Watford impressed against Liverpool, but Bournemouth are good at The Vitality Stadium. I think we'll sit firmly on the fence. DRAW.
Burnley Vs West Brom : An amazing start for Burnley, beating Chelsea should see them in buoyant mood against the Baggies, who traditionally have not got the best away record. Obviously it will be tight but the heart rules the head sometimes so in a moment of romantic weakness, we're going with a HOME WIN.
Leicester Vs Brighton : The Foxes scored 3 goals at the Emirates but left with nothing. Their confidence however will be up, Jamie Vardy in particular looks hungry to put in a shift in this season with a World Cup spot up for grabs. HOME WIN.
Liverpool Vs Crystal Palace : A few distractions for Liverpool go head to head with a new manager and new philosophy at Palace. Zaha looks to be ruled out, will Benteke pull something out of the bag against his old club? Although Liverpool look vulnerable in the air, they should see enough of the ball at home to see off Palace. HOME WIN.
Southampton Vs West Ham : The new 'Academy' vs the old 'Academy'? Although the Hammers were mauled by Man U, their squad looks good, and should Antonio return he will add a bit more muscle to the side. The Saints play well at home and will fancy their chances, however, with room on the fence... DRAW.
Stoke Vs Arsenal : Arsenal would normally be associated with dropping points in a game like this, but getting 3 points in a 7 goal thriller against Leicester will give them confidence. Where will Stokes goals come from? Can they keep Arsenal out for 90 mins? We're saying 'No' and going for an AWAY WIN.
Sunday 20th August 2017
Huddersfield Vs Newcastle : The Toon offered little to suggest they are going to be competitive against Spurs, and two injuries and a suspended Jonjo Shelvey won't help. Huddersfield however will be flying after an opening day away win at Palace. HOME WIN.
Spurs Vs Chelsea : Spurs looked good in the win away at Newcastle but can they focus enough on beating the team in front of them, rather than getting used to new surroundings. This game at White Hart Lane would have the feel of a Home win, but on this occasion it looks to be tighter. Chelsea have a few suspensions issues but Morata should start and the team is still full of quality. DRAW.
Monday 21st August
Man City Vs Everton : I think City will be glad to be playing Everton early in the season, this is going to be a tough test for anyone this year. At home though, and Everton still getting used to their starting 11, a HOME WIN is the pick.
