TPC Boston - ThreeOffTheTee preview and picks

Well the winner of this week’s TPC Boston may need to do both well this week.

Low scoring usually prevails on this course, with generous fairways making the three par 5s and short par 4s birdie opportunities.  Having said that, being able to hit the ball 300 yards plus off the tee is a distinct advantage on several holes, so expect a big hitter to prevail.

Last year’s winner Mcllroy, runner up Casey and in form Kevin Chappell, who also did well last year, all fit the bill, but all are suffering with the putter this season, so must be ruled out this week.

For the same reason, sadly, I have to give up on Webb Simpson who got us a decent e/w return last week, but who continues to three putt all too regularly to win at the moment.

Dustin Johnson is the rightful favourite and ticks all the boxes after last week’s victory, but represents little value.  A back to form Patrick Reed looks interesting, along with Louis Oosthuizen - both can get seriously hot with the putter.  Third pick this week has to be Jon Rahm, who could find this course very much to his liking and shoot something very low.
