Premier League Picks - Opening weekend suggestions
Football: The Premier League gets underway this weekend
We're not sure whether we will make this a regular column as our accumulator skills are known to be limited, but every now and then when there is a decent card we might take a look. Let us know what you think or if you want this to be a regular feature.
So just running through the matches quickly;
Arsenal V Leicester - Can't see this going any other way but to the Gunners, they look to have bought well and Leicester are not anywhere near close to the same team that won the Premier League in 2016.
Watford V Liverpool - Gut feeling says a draw. Even though Liverpool really should have too much for the Hornets, Watford have spent well and might even add Andre Gray before the deadline. 3/1 on the draw also seems like decent value.
Chelsea V Burnley - Chelsea.
Crystal Palace V Huddersfield - Not sure Palace have papered over the cracks of last year and Frank de Boer will take time to get his opinions across. Huddersfield will be flying on their opening day in the Premier League. Palace at home though seems a sensible pick this time.
Everton V Stoke - Everton on this occasion. There is a good feeling about them this year and Stoke shouldn't really have enough to match them at Goodison.
Southampton V Swansea - Swansea had a poor year last year and the spectre of Sigurdsson leaving is looming large. They have a tough year ahead and can't see them making a winning start here.
West Brom V Bournemouth - Should be close but we're going for an away win to kick start what looks like a bright season ahead for Bournemouth.
Brighton V Man City - Tough one to open things up at the AMEX. Man City are now title favourites following some big spending in problem areas. The full backs will certainly give them even more attacking threat. City our tip here but not straightforward!
Newcastle V Spurs - Not the match the Spurs would have wanted to kick off the season. Last time they played at St James Park they conceded 5 goals. The Geordies will be in full voice, and a lunch time kick off makes for a good atmosphere. A draw for us.
Man Utd V West Ham - Man U at home with a few signings should see off the Hammers, who we think will improve this season, but not at Old Trafford on the opening day.
At the time of writing an accumulator on these selections would get you 614/1 so we're rolling with that.
Good luck if you follow it, the 2 draws seem the main risk of failure!
