It was with some trepidation that I decided to invest in a lightweight, ‘Sunday Bag’. I am not a great golfer by any means, but I do like to have all my stuff at hand, and have always put the humble pocket in high regard when it comes to Golf bags.
How would I cope without 10 zip-up pockets? What if I run out of balls? All questions I managed to answer for myself after just one round.
TaylorMade Quiver: The Bag Itself
So straight off the bat, let’s just agree that the Taylormade Quiver is a very good-looking golf bag. I went for the grey version, as pictured below.
The main features of the TaylorMade Quiver
3-way top divider - I split mine into woods and long irons, mid irons and then anything to do with getting the ball up and down. It is a cosy fit for 13 clubs, so I dropped an extra wedge I normally carry but hardly ever use. I might add a rescue to my setup later in the year, so will see how that goes.
6 Pockets - TBF these are all pretty big, but one is a non-zip which I find fairly pointless. Stuff is only going to fall out one way or another. There is one that is big enough for waterproofs but frankly, you will probably want to leave them at home with this bag, the idea is to carry less, not try and fill it up with all your kit. I’ve got one for tees and balls, one for pitch repairers, gloves etc and then one for mobile, cash and the rest of it. All good on the pocket front, despite my reservations.
2.5 lbs in weight - This is pretty damn light. Of course, once you stick in a load of clubs the lightweight nature isn’t quite as obvious but compared to my old Snake Eyes bag, it is certainly a lot easier to carry around.
Shoulder Straps - They are not the best I’ve used, but they are adequate. I personally prefer the softer more cushioned straps but again, this bag is not designed for 36 holes in a day. Quick 9 or a fast 18 2-ball. Of course, the bag is also great for taking to the range, where straps aren’t really an issue!

What I like about the TaylorMade Quiver
To be honest my favourite thing is the look.
I like the light grey bag and it is a nice change from the black I have been using for so long. Other things I like;
I am a BIG fan of the grab handle. My normal bag is infuriating in that the handles are on each side rather than a grab. This is a major plus for me.
The stand - OK, I would have preferred long stand legs, these are only about 12 inches long but are extremely compact as a result. They retract easily and do the job.
Things I don’t like about the TaylorMade quiver
My main issue with the bag is that it doesn't stand up on its end very well. This may seem a moot point as it has legs, but I sometimes just want to stand the thing up! I am sure I will get used to it but it still annoys me somewhat.
As I mentioned before, I don’t like the straps much but am less bothered about that than the standing-up thing.
What I paid for the Taylormade Quiver
I bought it for £79.99 via Amazon, which is the same price as you’ll find at most other outlets. I think American Golf is about the same.

The Final Verdict on the TaylorMade Quiver
Overall I really like the bag, and it has certainly helped my hips not pushing a trolley about. My local course is quite hilly and this is the sort of bag you want if you aren’t in a cart or are playing a quick 9.
I would certainly recommend it if you are looking for a lightweight, Sunday bag with a stand.
