We put some questions to Amy whilst we were locked up.
Before music there was sport... tells us about your involvement in sport growing up?
I’ve always been really active and sporty since I was really little! I’m a massive animal lover too! But, when I was in primary school I started to get bullied really badly; so my parents started taking me to Trent Park Equestrian Centre once a week to cheer me up, which worked! I then went on to own 4 horses and my poor mum drove me around the entire country every weekend so I could compete!
You obviously have a passion for horses, is that something you would like to go back to or have plans for in the future?
I actually dream at least once or twice a week about horses, riding & competing again so as soon as my life allows me too then yes!
Do you take part in anything now? Are you a gym go-er, runner or yoga fan?
I hate the gym! But me and my french bulldog Reggie go to dog agility classes! I think I’ve found the next best thing to showjumping he’s fast and fit so we run together sometimes too, I also really enjoy boxing for fitness.
Tell us about your passion for Spurs, where did that come from?
It goes back to my first game; it was at home to Hull and we won! I was with my boyfriend sat in the shelf lower, right down in the corner where the shelf meets the old Park lane, I must have been in the second or third row, and i just absolutely fell in love with theatre and drama of it all. Danny Rose was absolutely incredible and until recently was my favourite player lol!
You have played some sets at the New Stadium, tells how that felt being a fan!
It’s amazing! I spend longer at the stadium then I could on a normal match day, which means I’ve seen parts of the stadium that I’d never have been able to see in my normal season ticket seat! I also get to chat to some of the Spurs legends too
There is a huge cross-over between sport, but football especially and music. Would you like to get more involved in the sport industry in the future?
Yes of course! I did the huge cross over from sport to music first and now I’ve done that I actually think I could do anything (within my own limits ) I don’t like to plan to far ahead but the excitement of change and new doors opening excite me. I’m looking forward to being part of the Racing League when it launches next year.
If you could choose a track for the Spurs players to warm up to or walk out to on matchday what would you choose?
This is such a good question! Personally I wouldn’t want to change the walk out music as it’s all I’ve ever known, i honestly just got goosebumps right now thinking of the lights at the stadium going mad, the screen playing the videos of the old great goals & the ready or not blaring across the sound system…
Buttt if I was a player and had to choose, I’d like to walk out to Insomnia by Faithless. I came out of the tunnel at a showjumping championship final to it, and it got my horse and me so pumped up that we won!
Its been a strange time for all of us, especially without any sport for entertainment. What have you been doing to keep yourself sane and your fans entertained during this period?
I was very quiet the first few weeks and felt very lost, it took some time and a bit of soul-searching but I finally found a bit of motivation. I made a new work schedule so I’m now doing a radio show (Fridays 7-9pm on vibesolate.fm) and a live stream once a week on Instagram (Sundays 6-7pm @Djamylauren) Instead of going to gigs, having these replacement things has really helped me!
And finally, isolation tip?
If you are lucky enough to have a dog then try learning some new tricks together, If you don’t have a dog, get one! #adoptdontshop
