Weleda Arnica Review: Honest Review of 4 Weleda Arnica Products
Weleda Arnica: A Thorough Review of Weleda Sports Arnica Range
Oli and Chloe review Weleda Sports 4 Arnica products; Shower Gel, Massage Oil, Muscle Soak and Cooling Gel.
Quick note to say this is not a sponsored post, We got sent the products to review but apart from that there was no incentive to be nasty or nice in our opinions on the Weleda Sports Range.
Weleda Arnica: The Range
As we understand it, there are 4 products in the range:
Weleda Sport Energising Shower Gel
Weleda Arnica Massage Oil
Weleda Arnica Cooling Gel
Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak
I say ‘understand’ as the brand herieachy on their packaging is very confusing.
Some products have ‘Arnica’ in the title e.g. the cooling gel and muscle soak, some have it as a footnote like the massage oil and the shower gel, which also has ‘sport’ in the title.
To add to the confusion, 3 of the products have orange packaging but the muscle soak has white branding and some use a logo plus established date and some don’t.
That aside, let’s move on to what’s inside the packaging!
Weleda Arnica Cooling Gel
So the timing was great here as I actually sprained my wrist the day the products arrived, so the perfect opportunity to try it out.
I have used arnica a lot during my cricketing career, mainly for bruised hands and fingers, and was something I always carried in the bag.
I didn’t find the product to be cooling really, and I tried several different types of application i.e. a lot, a little and somewhere in between.
What I would say is that it was kind of soothing, in fact as I type, I have just put some more on. This I guess is the arnica at work.
I would likely not buy loads of this but will keep it in my sports bag for occasions and will keep using it on my wrist. It smells good!
FYI - it is stickier than the ‘non-sticky’ on the box would suggest.
Weleda Arnica Massage Oil
Ok, so this stuff is good!
I’m not ashamed to say that Chloe got one of my best massages with this, and I don’t hand them out very often.
The oil felt warming on both my hands and Chloe’s back, and it really did smell like we were in a spa. That scent is something you really long for to help transport you to a different place.
The oil was not too greasy and I think it is one of the best oils we have used. We are both active gym go-ers so the benefits were greatly appreciated and I would definitely buy again!
Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak
So this certainly received the best reviews of all the products.
Chloe used this for a deep, long bath and would not stop talking about it afterwards.
“The closest thing you can get to a 5-star spa smell as you can get at home”
Chloe reported that the main benefits were;
Overall feeling of soothing and relaxing the muscles
Felt ‘amazing’ on her skin
Was truly relaxing and just needed candles and some music for the full spa experience.
So this is a total recommendation to try it if you want to relax your body and mind, which I guess most of us do, but especially in our house with 2 kids, a dog and aching bodies!
Weleda Sport Shower Gel
This doesn’t quite get as a good as review as the muscle soak I’m afraid.
I used this until the bottle ran out and although I didn’t dislike it, I wouldn’t buy it again personally.
The main reasons being
Low viscosity: felt quite watery, and I use some other high level gels like Taylors or L’Occitane and they are light years ahead in feel.
Low bubble production: I use a spongey thing to hep create extra bubbles but with this shower gel it was still very tricky to get much foam. For me personally, I like a lot of foam in the shower
Smell was ok but not that strong: This could be seen as a positive but I was expecting a real blast of Arnica to clear my head and wake me up.
Weleda Arnica Range: The Verdict
Overall it was a split decision.
We really liked 2 products, and 2 others were a little flat.
We would highly recommend the Arnica Massage Oil and the Arnica Muscle Soak but are not so excited about the Sport Shower Gel or the Cooling Gel.
