Isolated Memories - Interview with Horse racing presenter Britney Eurton
California Dreaming - US Horse racing royalty Britney Eurton joins us for a chat
We virtually went out West to ask NBC and TVG host Britney Eurton the 10 questions…
First Car?
My parents Silver BMW
First ever Job?
Salesperson at a clothing store in San Luis Obispo
Can you remember your first ever big purchase?
Hmm… Knowing me, it was either a pair of shoes or a purse
First memory of your sport?
Del Mar Summers are so vivid in my memory. For as long as I can remember I’ve spent the summers with my family in Del Mar. I’ll never forget when I was about 8 years old, going hat shopping with my Mom so I was ready for Opening Day. I felt so chic in my white bowler hat with the big pink flower… not sure I’d approve of the outfit today!
First day on the job in sport?
I was in the studios at TVG for my very first live hit. My job was to cover social media for the short segment and I would quickly read through tweets fans had sent in earlier in the day. I already had the tweets plucked out and I even practised the short segment before going on air.
As it would be had, the touchscreen wasn’t working and the tweets weren’t scrolling forward so I was left standing there rambling on about who knows what for the next five minutes. It’s safe to say, that did not go on the highlight reel!
Favourite memory of your life in sport?
Easily, this came last year at the Breeders’ Cup. I was lucky enough to cover the racing action on NBC, but what really will last in my memory banks forever was interviewing my father after he won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile with long shot Storm the Court.
It was a personal and professional highlight and something I will never forget.
Did you ever contemplate doing something different?
Since I was three I’ve wanted to be an actress. If I did anything but broadcast sports, I would love to work in film and TV.
If you had to work in another sport what would it be?
I’ve always had the desire to cover other sports, but if I had to pick one… American football!
Sporting Hero?
As a massive tennis fan… Steffi Graf
Isolation tip?
Stick to a routine. I've found that if I get myself out of bed, have breakfast, and plan a few things for the day ahead I’m less likely to go stir crazy! Oh, and… TIGER KING. Don't ask, just watch.
